Cyclonic Storm Jal (IMD designation:BOB 05, JTWC designation:05B) is the fifth named cyclone of the 2010 North Indian Ocean cyclone season.
Jal developed from a low pressure area in the South China sea that organized into a tropical cyclone on October 31. Jal is currently a Severe Cyclonic Storm.
It's also the fourth Severe Cyclonic Storm of the season. Jal is a Hindi name, meaning Water.

A cyclone warning was issued to the east Indian coast which were already hits by a strong monsoonal trough that caused severel flooding and killed hundreds
of people displacing many more. Until November 3rd, that region recorded more than 30 centimetres (12 in) of rainfall.[25] Rumors have been spreading that
the system had already intensified into a super cyclone and would kill everyone in its path. Later that day, Shri Ajit Tyagi, the Director General of the India
Meteorological Department clarified that there is no indication of the system to turn into a super cyclone.[26] The worst fear was the disruption of Diwali,
which was scheduled to be celebrated on November 5, that year. Diwali is one of the best festivals of India. In this festival, Indians burn Firecrackers and have fun.
If it rains badly, then the festival would be disrupted.[27] Fishermen have been advised not to venture into seas during the cyclone.[28] Later, the system slowed
down leading to a happy and safe Diwali.[29] It has been announced that Chennai could be the worst hit among all the coastal cities of India.[30] The leftover ruins
after the flooding caused by a monsoonal trough that hit Andhra Pradesh coasts last week are now going to face another deadly challenge
