Yangon 8 November - Fulfilling the prophecy, a former Army officer won a seat that they contested the election on Myanmar yesterday,
but a main opposition party is expected to make a surprise by capturing 18 seats in the Lower House of Parliament in Yangon.

Myanmar held the first elections in 20 years yesterday, despite harsh criticism from Western countries who claim that the process
is not free, fair and does not involve all parties.

Observers have predicted that the party pro junta strong financial resources, the Party for Unity and Development Union "USDP"
which comprises many military officers and government ministers will win the most seats.

USDP key leaders, including former generals and Shwe Mann Tin Aung Myint Oo, Thein Sein Prime Minister, Foreign Minister
Nyan Win and several other ministers won seats in Parliament.

Many of them compete in the new capital, Naypyitaw.

In Yangon, where competition is more intense, the Deputy Minister of Health, Paing Soe was killed.

The initial vote count showed today prodemokrasi party, the Democratic National Authority (NDF) of debris from the main opposition party,
the National League for Democracy (NLD) leader Aung San Suu Kyi, could win 18 out of 37 seats contested for the lower chamber of the former capital it.

Election officials in Rangoon estimated that 60 percent of registered voters to vote yesterday.
